When I was hiring people I found it annoying when people would come to the office and ask to see me when dropping off an application/resume. It interrupted my scheduled day and in my eyes the most important first impressions would come from the resume (no spelling mistakes, clean clear layout, etc). Perhaps for jobs that are more customer service oriented first impressions matter more?
