    Cost to bring Hydro 1 mile?

    Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows roughly how much it costs to bring hydro 1 mile to a new property? Has anyone done something like this recently? We purchased land and are looking to build our home there but hydro is 1 mile away.

    Best bet is to call hydro.

    I tried several times to contact them last week but every time it connected to that department it would ring twice and disconnect.

    unless hydro has changed in the last year and a half, if you are building a new home on your property, and there is no existing service, they should run the hydro lines to your main hydro pole at their cost. But it could take 4-6 months.

    It used to be that hydro would go down a road allowance, and one span onto the property at their cost, and if you had a further distance to go there would be a cost. I'm not sure if this is still the policy or not, but if it is, deciding on your pole and buildings can become important.
