Does anyone know if they will be relocating the passport office to another building or will they be closing it down permanently? I need to renew my son's passport soon and I really don't want to be travelling to Wpg. to do it.

The story I read said that they will sell the building by the end of the year, but nothing will change and the government will lease the space from the new owners.

the possibility that whoever buys the building has other plans for it. Isn't there?

The government will put the building up for sale with the condition that whoever buys the building will have to lease the space to the current tenants. So the new owner will have no choice but to lease the space to the current tenants or the sale will not go through. But from reading the story in the paper yesterday the new owners wil have an option to break the lease for a price. If that was too happen though the offices will move somewhere else.

OK, buy our giant building, but you have to rent it to us...unless we decide to bolt, in which case good luck with your empty dinosaur.

the building currently fully occupied by Service Canada or is there unused space that the owner can rent out to others?

They say only 60% of the building is currently occupied.
