I heard there was an office in Brandon to do this, can anybody verify this, I can't seem to find any info.

I just did this . Government building at the corner of princess and 11th (the old post office building )is where you do this . Have everything ready with your form filled out and your pictures taken and they will go over it for you . I did the 10 year one for $160 . They mailed it and it took exactly 21 days to receive it .

Service Canada, will review your application and take payment and will send it away to Passport Canada for processing.

Just did this at the Government building (Princess and 11th) I was going to go to Winnipeg but this was a great alternative! Didn't take very long at all, and I was in and out in no time

Get a grip. You're paying for a security document, not the right to leave the country. You can leave the country anytime you want, but good luck finding any countries who will accept you without documentation.

The passport is most importantly to get you back into Canada FYI, though not many countries will take you without your documentation as the previous poster said. Or you could just try walking across the border like the asylum seekers did, although some lost hands/fingers doing it so good luck

I think you are off topic.. This post is regarding Renewal of passport.  
 
You can go to the Government building. But it is for people that need help filling out form or making sure its done right. Then they mail it for u.. You can also go on line and print the form u need and the instructions on what u need (picture) and mail them in your self. The renewal form is pretty easy to do on your own, Then u mail it..

Didn't think we had it so bad here that we had to worry about the state of the refugee's who are seeking asylum in our country. Let's not forget, most of us come from similar circumstances. Myself, I was born in this country and consider it my home and native land. But my lineage only goes back three generations before, when my blood was being excised by the nazis. I was always taught Canada is a 'cultural mosaic'.  
 
That aside, I just got my passport renewed as well. It arrived within 15 business days, but they gave an expected date of 21. It was nice. a 5 year passport is $120, and $160 for the 10 year as stated above. They accept cash debit and credit at the provincial building in town.  
 
You've also got the option of making the trip to the passport office (?) in Winnipeg, where you will recieve (from what my travel mate told me) on the same day. For a slightly higher cost, naturally. In case your in a little more of a rush.  
 
The enhanced photo ID's that were released a few years back as an i:ncluded option on a majority of driver's licenses these days, is suitable for travelling via land crossings. Personally, I will not be going state side until things settle down at the borders.
