Hi everyone! It's my first time filing a tax return here in Canada. Just wondering if how long would it take to get/ receive your check?

depends on how it was filed. If it is accurate and was net filed could be a direct deposit in 8-9 business days.

That if it is your first return ever it has to be mailed in. You can't efile.

Katie is correct on her thoughts. Different process for first time processing for new Canadians. H&R has a gentleman at the mall location that specializes in them.

Kathie, when you paper file (mail in) a tax return, the processing time alone is 6-8 weeks.

People who can efile or netfile, the processing time is about 10-12 days.

If you are new to Canada and filing for the first time you may need to paperfile. I would recommend going and seeing an accountant to make sure your taxes are being filed correctly and on time.
