Our beautiful North Hill destroyed by development!!!  
Why are we allowing Developers to destroy the beauty of our North Hill?

All the trailer courts, closed down businesses, empty overgrown lots or one of the farmer's fields? Brandon's beauty stops just past the river and that hasn't been beautiful in 10 years due to poor flood control.

There was beauty on the north hill?

I'll agree that it is a nice view to look at the north hill from downtown, however you are only seeing the south slope. They can't or aren't developing the slope very much anyway. More difficult (expensive) to do, so any development on top and north of Braecrest won't affect the view from the south. The view from the hill, overlooking the city is nice, so hopefully there will still be access for that and I also hope that they leave Winston Churchill Park and the area where the spring is alone.  
 
I see no problem with developing the land between Braecrest and Hwy #1 though. They should push Claire Ave all the way through between 1st and 18th and extend Black Street from Highland Ave to Claire Ave. Then they could put residential developments in the area south of Hwy #1, southeast of the Super 8, etc. The only other area I hope they leave natural is the little ravine (or whatever you call it) on the northwest corner of 18th St and Braecrest Drive. So, other than the hillside itself, which might be an idea to set aside some land to have another small park up there, I don't see a problem with developing.

I'm talking about nature it's self not the eyesores that Man has made!

Once Nature (the beauty of the North Hill) is destroyed it's gone forever! There is lots of other land in Brandon that these Developers can develop!

It's available land within city limits, why wouldn't they develop it? I'm sure the majority of the city that now houses homes and businesses was once "beautiful land". Is the complaint that they're taking green space away or that they're developing near your home and you don't like that? It's just what living in a city is about.

If you love the green space. Maybe it's time you look into moving elsewhere???

No it's about reserving Green Space on our beautiful North Hill !!!  
It's not progress when you destroy nature (our beautiful North Hill) with concrete within our City!!!

A vacant lot full of weeds is green space.

the weed covered debris in some of that open space is the beauty of nature you want to preserve, yet you apparently think it is okay if the developers.go away and destroy some green space elsewhere in the city? or pour concrete all over some big beautiful field outside city limits? Get a grip!

Not sure I'd call that huge empty space beauty lol. More like overgrown empty space. You want beauty? Move out to the country! Lots of untouched beauty out here!

So is the church not an eyesore then? You seemed to give it a pass...  
 
And why would it be ok for the evil developers to destroy other 'nature' areas and NOT the North Hill?  
 
What makes the North Hill so much more precious to preserve than other undeveloped areas?

wow its funny how ppl on e brandon jump on ppl for speaking there minds its like we are in grade 2 the way it looks some of u or u jump on the band wagon you all need to chill out and relaxe i think injoy life and as bob marley sings DONT WORRY BE HAPPY lmao

I feel like your jumping all over people that want to speak their mind on this subject.  
Without jumping on anyone, I''d like to say the North Hill has gotten better over the years. I like the walk to go shopping and it''s also nice the kids from the area can now find jobs that aren''t an hour bus ride away. I also like the possibility of finding a retirement place for me up here.  
 
To agree with the OP, I do wish the city planned out more green space/small park areas up here.

I get it but then I got it back in the 70s. I felt the same way when the 70s residential progress started and again in the 90s and so on.  
 
I would have rather kept all the green space north of Kirkaldy instead of all that "progress" in the flood zone. Now I just hope that we can retain the bush between Winston Churchill Park and 18th Street North. Good hike for us so no need to drive to the Brandon Hills.

Isn't the Hanbury Hill Bike & Hike Paths considered nature? I really the view of the city by Grand Valley Church.
