I fly multiple helis and drones, if you have no experience, i highly reccomend using a trainer, you use a remote connected to your computer and fly on the computer, this way when you crash it won't cost you anything.
The DJI line is relatively user friendly and if you have GPS on you unit it basicly will fly itself. Quadcopters are very "smart" now and depending on what trim of phantom you bought the unit will be easier to control.
In all honesty, take you quad to a wide open field, stand back, face the unit away from you and very slowly learn to hover. Hold it in one place for as long as you can then gently land it. Next learn how to move it around in a controlled manner. make sure you can fly in a circle, back and forth and eventually facing backwards. Crashing these are not too pricey, just keep your altitude low and if you need to bail its better to do it 2 feet rather then 50 ft off the ground.
RC quads and helis are not something you learn in a day and become good at, its going to take you a while to learn this if you are new. Commit some time every day and practice very basic maneuvers, learn to control you roll, yaw, and your pitch. start basic and take it from there
Hope this quick answer helps
