My laptop crashed. Doesn't turn on, doesn't run, does absolutely nothing. Wondering if there is anyone around who would be able to get the pictures we have on it off and saved else where. Have had a couple computer savvy people try with not luck. Suggestions?

What did your computer savvy people try?

pull the hard drive and try plugging into another pc as a non boot drive. if that doesn't work you can try running spinrite on it if it can be recognized by another computer. If that doesn't work then you are left with third party hard drive recovery which is $$$

I suggest you double-check the computer savvyness of your friends.  
 
Are we to assume it's a Windows machine?

What PJC said. Take the hard drive out and hook it up to another PC. Best chance you have.

If it was my computer and you want to make sure all the precious pictures and memories are not lost. I would not even ask around, I would be going straight to Geekzs Computers.

Let me know if you have an answer. We tried Geekz and even they cannot get our photos off. I now make sure I back up my photos!

What I did was bought an external hard drive case off Amazon. I then put the hard drive in the case and plugged it into the USB port. You can then look through all of your files and copy your pictures and videos over.

I might do it for you, It all depends on what happened to your Hard Disk, but let me have a loo k, I will give you a very good price!

This is probably the easiest if your hard drive was not the culprit for your laptop crashing. However if your hard drive is dead/damaged it becomes increasingly difficult to retrieve anything. Best of luck.

Did these savvy people troubleshoot the laptop at all? Different battery or power cord? Measure to see if it is getting power? A bad battery can cause a laptop to not run at all, even if it is plugged in. If there are no lights no nothing it is most likely a power issue primarily.  
 
When a hard drive is crashed generally the laptop will turn on and try to boot then give an error. Since this is not what you describe the hard drive is probably ok and it should be relatively straight forward to get the files you need.

I took my laptop to Geekz and they put them on a stick for me.

I can try. I have an idea, kind of experimental.  
 
Pop the drive as an external in hirens boot cd and Recuva the crap out of it. UT would take a while but it might be salvageable. If it's encrypted well the hen it's boned.
