How much does this tax cost you?
Does the tax credit cover your cost? How much are you out?
You talk about Carbon Engineering, and I agree but who will pay? If the government implemented plants with taxpayer dollars, everyone would cry about subsidies. If the government implements a tax, they cry about a tax grab. If we leave it to the market to find a way, nobody changes their habits because somebody will try to find a way to give you want cheaper...even if the environment suffers.
You want choices. So do I. In they end, we will all pay. Doing nothing will cost a hell of a lot more then this tax.

To answer your questions:
"How much does this tax cost you? "
Today it costs me $0.05 per liter of gas that I buy.
It also costs the manufacturers, the farmers, the trucking companies, and everyone else down the line $0.05 per liter of fuel - which they will pass on to me one way or the other when I buy their goods or services. And apparently a carbon tax has been applied to my Hydro bill???? - Which is stupid. Hydro electricity from dams doesn't generate carbon emissions. That's like putting an alcohol tax on my pineapple juice.
"Does the tax credit cover your cost?"
I haven't sat down to figure it out, most likely not. But even if it did - it doesn't matter. The principle of the matter is the fact that the price of everything is constantly going up and I already feel like I'm taxed to death. It's already almost impossible to get ahead in life. The rebate means little when I gotta bend over and let them take it back every time I pull up to the pumps.
"You talk about Carbon Engineering, and I agree but who will pay?"
I would much rather have paid to set up the infrastructure that would TRULY have meant long-term jobs and a switchover to a carbon-neutral energy source - than to have my tax dollars spent on $4billion worth of pipe. I would rather "subsidize" something like 500 Canadian designed and built carbon engineering plants, than have my tax dollars subsidize any foreign oil company like we've been doing for years.
They should give us options, not new taxes. That's all I'm saying.
