Does anyone know when this money is coming for seniors?

I am wondering when to expect the $200 provincial payment to seniors. I have heard that some have already received it. Awaiting a reply from Manitoba government - email sent to them yesterday.

Says asap-and clarifies by saying anyone eligible for the OAS in June will receive it. So-sometime in June I guess? Not sure if it will come early, or not until the regular June pension payment.  
 
Anyone eligible for the GIS will get an additional $200, so $500 total.

Waiting on both mb and fed gov money

Just out of curiosity can any of you seniors highlight expenses that have increased directly due to covid to warrant this payment?

living on small pensions our costs have mainly gone up due to shopping at what we consider 'safe stores'. Two of the biggest retailers have the best prices but I have not felt comfortable enough to shop at either.  
However since we are not 65 yet we get neither payment from the feds or the province.  
I am especially disappointed that Manitoba felt the need to give seniors the 200 dollars no matter their income which is not right.  
In my opinion anyone collecting CPP should have been qualified to receive the extra cash from both levels of government.  
Mr. Pallister talked about seniors and how they had to start using the internet to keep in touch with family and how the 200 dollars that he is sending will help with that cost. What? How about those seniors that are out of the zone for getting the cash and are just trying to pay their bills, tax bills i:ncluded and trying to buy some healthy food to eat? We don't count? SMH!

the price you have to pay for toilet paper these days. Without mentioning which store/stores they are making a killing on this product! Who the heck wants to pay fifteen bucks for toilet paper? One place has even put out there stock before a sale to grab the extra profit which is so not right or decent of them to do.

I am a Sr and have had an increase in my expenses. Seniors are more likely to be taking multiple pres:cription medication. The cost of that medication increased greatly when we were only allowed a 1 month supply, as we were having to pay triple the dispensing fees ( for each medication). For me, it meant an extra 100.00 per month. As someone in the high risk category, I was also staying home and ordering groceries online for delivery. Each delivery (usually once a week) meant a 10.00 delivery fee was added to the bill ($40.00 per month). Many seniors on limited pensions live payday to payday and shop for the deals that are offered at multiple stores. The opportunity to buy sales items was often lost when shopping had to be safely done at only 1 store. We also, like most people, noticed a rise in cost for many essential items. I was also working part time to supplement my pension, however that opportunity to work ended with the pandemic. I am not complaining and consider myself very fortunate to have services in place and some savings that I could fall back on. Our lives have all been disrupted and have become more challenging under the current situation. I thank God that we are able to relax a little now and go out, while at the same time fearing for the “second wave”.

I can completely understand where you're coming from on this post and your previous one. I'm not even a senior and I've found some costs have gone up simply because I'm buying according to need, and not waiting for sales etc like I used to. So instead of waiting for TP to go on sale, or buying a cheaper brand, I'm paying that $15 because I need it now and I'm not going back out for 2 weeks.

Just the start. Once the government starts to claw all of this money back through different forms of taxation living costs are going  
to get much higher for everyone for years to come, maybe decades.

Some seniors are donating their money to organizations.  
The Brandon Humane Society lost 2 of their big fundraisers from this Covid19 so if there is any seniors out there that are looking for a place to donate their $200.00 I'm sure they would be very thankful

I like that idea. I donate to Humane Society anyway and I have given the Samaritan House food bank the extra money. I personally don't agree with EVERYONE getting this money either, not if you don't need it, but the donation is one way of paying it forward. I know soooo many small organizations will be suffering and wish I could do more.
