Sorry guys, I'll be "that" person asking about what but I saw...the kicker is I don't have a photo.. I saw it yesterday. It looked like a mutation between a large ant and a spider. It was really strange. Was about the size of a thumb nail, seemed to have at least 3 sections of body which is why I say it looked like half ant (I could be wrong as I didn't look at it for too long), but it's legs looked like something off of a spider... didn't get a count of them though... colour was a mix between black and dark red. I am thinking this thing bites aswell as someone living in the house has huge bug bits on the neck and head (after laying on the floor)...  
 
Anyone have any ideas?

A Carpenter ant maybe?

It's body isnt like a typical ant. It was larger, like a mutated ant on steroids., but with spider looking legs.... I don't think I'll get too far in finding my answer haha

That's why I thought it may have been a carpenter ant as they can get quite large 1/2 -1 inch. But if it looked more like a spider/ant hybrid I can't think what that may be.

There are species of spiders that mimic looking like ants. It's a protection and hunting strategy.

Sounds like carpenter ants to me. We had them a few years ago and they are ginormous! They were difficult to get rid of. Google carpenter ants.

Defiantly wants a carpenter ant. I've seen many large ants in my long life. The thing was that really made me feel that this wasn't just an ant was that it's legs were different than than of an ant. In an ant, their legs aren't on the last part of their body, but this weird mutant bug had legs at different points from the head to toe...... I should have taken a darn photo...

I'll look more into this spider posing as an ant thing though! From photos it looks like it's definitely in the right direction

I posted a photo that looks pretty darn close to what I saw! I just need to find a name for him (my "Google" searching ability is a bit rusty lol)... it is a spider posing as an ant.,,, I'll be darned

Part of the Castianeira spider family. They are around here in Canada. They are spiders, and they do pose as ants! Wow! Thankyou everyone for helping me find this out! It would explain the bite the 1 person in the house had.... mystery solved! Incredibly fascinating, although a little creepy... good luck to me sleeping tonight after scrolling through pages of spiders and ants...lol
