Hello was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for a counceller? I don't have coverage. So hoping for someone either free or at least reasonable cost wise.

Hi there, Please reach out to Mental Health Services in the Town Centre or the 7th Street Access Centre or Westman Crisis Services. They would be the best ones to help you in your time of need. Contacting them is free of charge. I can't say that any follow up counselling would be free but those areas would certainly have great support that could help you out. On 9th is great, and I believe they tailor their prices to what people can afford.

A few years ago when I needed counselling services, I went to The Samaritan House. The lady I saw retired but I think they filled the position. It was free! Previously I tried 9th street counselling Center, I felt like I was paying to have someone pat me on the back and tell me I was doing great. I wasn't doing great and needed more constructive help, I have a bias for action and I found that The Samaritan House helped me more so. Good luck finding help.

Unfortunately Samaritan House counselling is for women and children only and are funded by the Family Violence Prevention act. I'm certain the mandate is for DV affected women and children only. A great service though!  
AFM has free counselling for anyone affected by someone's substance use (past or present) or is currently struggling with their own addiction.  
Some employees have EAP which covers free counselling.  
Mental Health Services is also a free service.

Patrick Morrissette is free, if you book through the YMCA program. There is some kind of program they have and you can request to see him.  
 
He also is a professor at the university.  
 
I called him direct, he answers his messages very quickly and he told me how to go about going through the Y.

we were never asked anything about wages or filled out any type of form.

Call the Town Center Mental health and make an appointment for intake assessment. If they feel you need help they will set you up with a counselor. Also your family dr can refer you to one of the psychiatrists in town. That is what I did.

When we went (it was probably 4 years or so ago now) we were basically told it was a sliding scale and whether we wanted to apply for it as there was additional paperwork. We knew we could afford the pay the "actual retail price" so we didn't bother. So it might not be automatic? Or else it's changed and they don't do that anymore.
