My uncle is losing his sight.  
 
Even the large button remote from WCG is good but the volume doesnt work with the RCA TV he has. RCA remote has tiny buttons way too small for him to even see. Works on Volume but not channel. as a result he struggles to have to use two remotes and often presses the wrong buttons as he can't see.  
 
It a common problem. Tried several universal remotes. they each work one or the other(vol/channel).  
 
Thought I'd ask if someone has found a remote that does work on Westman cable box other than the westman one?  
 
I asked WCG about voice control but they only have that on their expensive Tivo Box.  
 
I thinking I could get a seeing eye dog trained to change the channel and volume easier than finding a remote to do both!  
 
Perhaps someone has crossed this bridge before any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would check with CNIB or an occupational therapist. They should have some suggestions.

WCGs large button remote should be able to be reprogrammed to control the volume on the cable box, rather than trying to control the TVs volume.  
This way you can set the TV’s volume to a decent level, and he can control the volume through the box.

I agree with Some_Guy...the large button remote from Westman should be programmable to your uncle’s TV. That style of remote is all my parents have used for several years. Call Westman’s support team and ask if they can walk you through the steps to program the remote (you may need to know the model of the TV). Good luck!

several RCA TV models are not compatible with various remote controls including WCG, MTS, Universal, etc (I have one that we cannot control power or volume). In this situation it will likely be easier for you to get a new tv (sometimes people trade tv's also) but check with WCG to ensure whatever you are getting will work with their remotes.

WCG help line was the first place I called .... we tried to reprogram it with some 15 different #'s without any luck.  
 
Even they suggested 'get ubniversal a remote that would accept the cable box  
& the RCA TV.... basically they said theirs wouldnt work on our TV.  
 
Has anyone found a remote that does work on (New)RCA tv's?

I wonder if RCA folks would be able to suggest any help ?

Unfortunately the point of my first post seems to have been missed.  
 
I am aware that the remote won’t program to control your RCA tv volume.  
 
The WCG cable box has an internal volume control.  
 
The remote is programmed by default so that when you hit volume up or down, it tries to control the TV volume.  
 
The remote should be able to be reprogrammed so that hitting volume up or down will change the volume setting on the WCG cable box. I know for a fact their regular remotes can do this, but am not 100% on the senior ones.  
 
If the remote can do this, your volume will be able to be controlled by your WCG remote, while watching cable.  
 
I don’t have a manual for that remote, so you will have to call WCG and ask them how to do it.
