ask your doc for antibiotics. i have missed 7 days of work over this cold. doc has me off till friday. taken 2 rounds of antibiotics. starting to feel better 10 days in.

I still depend on lemon and honey, really cheat at it though, I use realemon not fresh lemons.  
I’ve not had a cold so far this winter but something hit my sinuses in the last couple of hours, hope it’s not what is going around because it sounds nasty.

Don, I made a hot toddy tonight and had to substitute realemon for lemons too lol. My honey is also raspberry flavoured but it tasted really good! It was 6 ounces hot water, 2 tbsp spiced rum, 1 tbsp honey and 1/4 tsp lemon. I hope you’re not getting this cold either, it’s brutal! I also lost my voice for 3 days  
 
Trying some Mucinex tonight and will head back to the doctor tomorrow! My ears are killing me

I had a lesser case of what you seem to have sammy. It did hang on about 10 days. You may be on the right track treatment wise, except I don't think you put enough rum in your hot toddy !!

It did feel weird measuring my rum LOL.

I hope not! Lol. It is super frustrating though because how can a cold knock me out SO much?!?? I’m sorry to hear you had it too but I also find comfort knowing I’m not the only one!

Rainy, her doc said it's viral. Antibiotics don't help a viral illness, they just increase the risk of antibiotic resistance and super bugs.  
There are some terrible viruses going around right now. For sinuses, I like a product with both antihistamine and decongestant. And pretty much the only thing that works for a hacking cough is a product with codeine (you have to ask the pharmacist, they are kept behind the counter).

It's been a horrible winter. We're working our way through another virus right now - my boys have had fevers for 3-4 days a piece, stuffed up but stomach upset too, headaches etc. Can't wait for the rest of us to get it (yay....)  
 
So fare this winter, we've had  
-influenza  
-strep (including a kid getting hospitalized and the baby having it even though babies don't usually get it, and a kid with impetigo)  
-hand foot mouth disease  
-no fewer than 3 major enteroviruses, and several minor ones  
-countless colds  
-a few other random viruses including one that kept me in bed for the better part of a week.  
 
It's just been a really, really bad year for whatever reason.

We had 'the plague' last year in January and thankfully nothing this year despite being around sick people.  
 
Sammy if your pull your earlobe does it hurt more? Then that would be a ear infection and would require meds. Have your tried a nasal wash? I use Hydrasense nasal wash recommended by a doctor when I was having lots of issues, it does work. I know how bad ears can hurt from inside.

John...no doesn’t hurt when I pull them so that’s a good sign!! I’m feeling better today so fingers crossed it’s almost over!!

Well, can add tonsillitis to the list! At least the antibiotics for that are helping some of the symptoms!

Wife kids and myself all have tonsillitis. Not a big fan of the chills and swallowing glass . Hope everyone feels better soon .
