Just curious as to what people find are the best off the shelf orthotic inserts. I recently got a set of customs yet the $400 price tag, combined with work benefits that only pay $200 per year I am curious to search other options. I really just have a flat arch so good firm arch rises would do me fin3. I now only have 1 set, have to switch between all my footwear and spent over $200 so hopefully there are some reasonable ones where even $50 a set I could just buy about 3 sets and that would do my exercise shoes, casual dress shoes and work boots. I tried orthotics from the store including Dr Scholls custom orthotics when you stand on the machine. I got some relief from my pain but not a cure. My Doctor told me to get custom orthotics from a podiatrist and get physiotherapy and problem was cured. I still use the proper custom orthotics , I think that they were $500 and had no insurance so had to pay in full. Personally I think that I wasted a whole lot of money on the store bought orthotics and the Dr Scholls, I wouldn’t bother going that route again. I’d rather pay for true custom orthotics, within a certain time period a second set usually costs less. Just my 2 cents.

Just remembered that if you have a referral from your doctor for a podiatrist or physiotherapist then you should qualify for tax relief against the cost. Hope this might help your decision, it’s worth checking at least.

If you go to one of the shoe stores in the mall that sells Birkenstock arch support or footbed. They are amazing and the clerk allows you to try on so you get exactly what you’re looking for. Very helpful and informative! She really knows what she’s talking about! I paid about $100.00 for mine and worth it! Please check them out first, you won’t be disappointed. Good luck!
