Has anyone else been affected by the cold/sinus infection that just never goes away? Antibiotics, cold meds etc and it leaves for a couple days and comes back with a vengeance.Over 2 months now.. has anyone any suggestions on what worked for yourself? This is brutal this year.

I would suggest investing in a decent humidifier..it has helped me from the added dryness of winter and heaters running when it comes to sinus issues.  
 
A netti pot or sinugator for alternative from meds every once in awhile too.

with eucalyptus, it's a nasal spray especially for sinus issues. it will sting the nose and throat when you first use it but it is bearable after. Worked well for a family member.

I second the NettiPot or any equivalent nasal rinse system. I believe you can also make your own saline nose rinse at home with sea salt and put it in an old dish soap bottle to spray into your nose.  
 
For me, it takes a couple days to see results, but I find it really cuts down on the duration of sinus problems when I have a cold, and there's no side effects to using it often.  
 
I don't suggest nasal sprays if your cold is that stubborn. It isn't recommended that you use them often or regularly. I've had success just with the sinus rinse.

Am a netti pot fan, I use it every evening for sinus relief and don’t need anti histamines in summer now either. I find it does bring cold relief too.

Nettie pots or simply sniffing up salt water is great, however the larger part of the problem is compaction. Anything trying to get there to help is not able to reach it properly. Antibiotics need to be a minimum of 3 weeks and 4 is usually better. Vibration, and or shiatsu massage are the key. Especially vibration as it breaks everything up you can even feel the draining. So do it while on the antibiotics and on a regular basis to avoid compaction and infection. If you are consistent I promise you will have less trouble. I did antibiotics 3 and 4 times a year for years, a long time ago. I now manage through vibration , salt water, and I do take reactin daily. No infection in 15 or so years.

Just curious did you get a flu shot? I’ve had the flu shot four years in a row with no colds.

Was not taken, I really should be more informed. I thought the shot is just for the flu? . I would be interested in the feed back too of the flu shot advocates

I’m not familiar with vibration massage. Do most massage therapists do this type of massage?

Had the flu shot for the first time this winter. Have had a couple of colds but no flu yet. I will definitely get the shot every year from now on.

I have this cold now the third time since December now,once in December,once in January,,now since friday sick again..I just cannot beleive that one can get sick with the same thing three times,and yes I am sick of it,as I miss work,and then short pay

we both had that wicked cough, family member had it for over 4 weeks, it was in the lungs. Mine stayed in my nose and throat but both of us suffered a lot. Nothing we tried helped ease the cough. Hot tea with honey, steam with eucalyptus, various lozenges. One of us even ended up at emerg due to coughing.  
 
Our aunt, even though she had the flu shot in October got the cough and suffered as much as we did.  
 
It was caused by some sort of virus and it took it's time clearing out too.

This happen every year? I can recall many years in the past of people complaining about the never ending cough. I know personally that it’s the first year I haven’t gotten it( guarenteed it’ll hit now because I spoke of it lol) sinus issues for me are off and on all year but from mid nov to mid March are non stop. Feel better soon

If you asked a massage therapist I am certain they would know what to do. It is easier and cheapest to handle your self. If you go for massage anyway you could certainly add it on. A few minutes is enough to get things going some.

A flu shot will not keep you from getting a cold. Not the same virus. I had my flu shot and I got two cold this winter. I’m usually never sick or for very long. This year was a doozy for the cough to go away. Took me several months and 2 rounds of antibiotics. I never take antibiotics unless I have to either. Hopefully this means I’m good for awhile on colds
