I am looking to take a bookkeeping course. Any recommendations / advice from those involved in this occupation? I have been in financial services for 20 years, so I have some knowledge already. I have reviewed the ACC offering and it looks pretty good, but I am wondering about other distance learning providers (such as ICS Canada). I want the training so I can continue to work or volunteer in this capacity "in retirement"

Still hoping to hear from those in the industry with their recommendations on which program to take.

From the looks of things, this looks very similar to the Accounting program at Red River (which I completed). That particular program was very good. You could also check out Red River's offering, and compare.  
 
I'd advise you to seek guidance from someone with experience, a good bookkeeper or the accountant that completes your employer's year end, as well. I'm in public accounting now, and I can tell you that poor bookkeeping increases the time I have to spend on a year end and tax return.
