September 10 provincial update

The Province has issued Thursday’s COVID-19 bulletin at:

A local perspective on data released alongside that update:
BRANDON:
Total cases: 320 (+1)
Active cases: 102 (-35)
Recoveries: 218 (+36)
Deaths: 0 (no change)
7-day new case average calculates as: 1.71 (-0.72)*
PRAIRIE MOUNTAIN HEALTH REGION:
Total cases: 485 (+1) (note Province reports that there are 2 new in PMH. Reason for discrepancy unclear)
Active: 166 (-46)
Recoveries: 318 (+47)
Deaths: 1 (no change)
Current Hospitalizations: 4 (-3)
7-day new case average calculates as: 2.29(-0.71)*
In Manitoba as a whole, the province is reporting 15 new cases of COVID-19 and a five-day test positivity rate of 1.2%.

Orange status

Question at today's media briefing relating to the current Orange status in Prairie Mountain Health relative to some of the recent lower case numbers in the region.

Answer described what we've seen in Prairie Mountain Health recently as early trends. That trend is something they will want to have seen for an incubation period of the virus and that if the same trend continues for the next week they may at that point look at when they might be able to lift orange-level restrictions.

The Province has issued Friday’s COVID-19 bulletin at:

A local perspective on data released alongside that update:

BRANDON:
Total cases: 322 (+2)
Active cases: 72 (-30)
Recoveries: 250 (+32)
Deaths: 0 (no change)
7-day new case average calculates as: 1.86 (+0.15)*

PRAIRIE MOUNTAIN HEALTH REGION:
Total cases: 489 (+4)
Active: 96 (-70)
Recoveries: 318 (+74)
Deaths: 1 (no change)
Current Hospitalizations: 4 (no change)
7-day new case average calculates as: 2.71(+0.42)*

Compared to yesterday, these are the differences in case breakdown by age group in differentiating provincial data released yesterday vs today:
40-49: 1 female
30-39: 1 female, 1 male
20-29: 2 female
10-19: minus 1 female

In Manitoba as a whole, the province is reporting 15 new cases of COVID-19 and a five-day test positivity rate of 1.4%.

From today’s Provincial bulletin, note this paragraph regarding a potential local exposure:
“Public health officials are advising of a potential exposure to COVID-19 that may have occurred on Sept. 1 at the GRMC Vision Centre, 20-144 6th St., Brandon, between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. The exposure risk is low, but those who visited this location at this time are asked to monitor for symptoms”

Compared to yesterday, these are the differences in case breakdown by age group in differentiating provincial data released yesterday vs today:
Age 30-39: +1
Age 20-29: +1

In Manitoba as a whole, the province is reporting 17 new cases of COVID-19 and a five-day test positivity rate of 1.4%.

in addition to the Ecole New Era case noted above, this locally-relevant two paragraphs is included:

"Previously announced positive cases include a health-care worker and an out-patient at the Carberry Health Centre. Several staff have been identified as close contacts, and are required to self-isolate and self-monitor for symptoms. Due to these staffing issues, the site was closed to acute and emergency care late in the day on Friday, Sept. 11. It is expected the closures will continue until Wednesday, Sept. 23. Plans are for the site to reopen on Thursday, Sept. 24.

Current patients have been transferred to other sites in the region and the region is providing information to community members about other options for care during the closure. At this time, there have been no exposures linked to the personal care home in community. The site is now listed on the Pandemic Response System as Critical (Red).”
