Vaccine bulletin

The first of what look to be ongoing vaccine bulletins put out by the province (link below). From that link, sounds like they've had a lot of calls from folks not yet eligible for the very limited supply. Please read the whole bulletin to be fully informed, but from the link this is who is initially eligible (about half of spots still available):

"health-care workers whose work involves direct contact with patients and who meet one of these other criteria:
-work in critical care units, born on or before Dec. 31, 1970;
-work in acute care facilities, born on or before Dec. 31, 1960;
-work in long-term care facilities, born on or before Dec. 31, 1960; or
-be assigned to COVID-19 immunization clinics. "

Do you think those appointments still available will be available in Brandon? And what number are you supposed to call?

I’m thinking if one is in this initial priority group from the list that they or their employer would have the number?

According to website there was dedicated phone given internally for eligible front-line health-care providers that met criteria.

At press conference today re limited immunizations beginning tomorrow, question was asked about when we could expect to see the Pfizer vaccine in other regions such as Prairie Mountain Health. Premier Pallister stated that we could expect in the coming month to see in Brandon and to Parkland and numerous other areas in the province.

The Moderna vaccine is expected early in the new year and can be shipped more easily to communities based on different storage requirements.

Current vaccine for covid 19roll outs

So what do you think of our health care roll out so far? I’ve heard of three Brandon icu nurses that actually got appointments in wpg to get vaccinated. They only had to wait online for over 2 hours and none of them work full time. What about the ones that do? Would it have not been easier to get the icu managers at each hospital in Manitoba to submit names and eligible age of staff to be vaccinated. Easier then over 100,000 calls going out after number to phone was leaked to general public.

It wasn’t helped by the many regular people reportedly calling the vaccination line and some of them even lying and claiming to be health care workers while genuine health care workers were trying to get through for hours. It’s amazing how low some people will stoop.

Via the Sun story below, if everything goes according to plan we could see a vaccine clinic in Brandon at the Keystone Centre on January 18th. Whether its Pfizer or Moderna and how many doses would initially be available are TBD:
