Well one would think so.... I thought it would fall under the “cleaning products” category. Did the cashier mistake it for air freshener (like Febreze) which isn’t considered essential?

No, it was after she tried to ring it through. I said that can’t be right, I’m trying to disinfect to make it safe. She said I hear you but I can’t sell it. Of all the things that are essential right now why is this not i:ncluded?

The funny thing was, none of that area was taped off and she said it should have been. Obviously why that shelf is still full. We’re not supposed to clean and disinfect.

Our local grocery store is not allowed to sell air freshener.

Sobeys South definitely had the whole air freshener section covered up this week when I was there.

Essential items:

Has had Air Fresheners blocked off for the last month. It is hard as i need for a health condition. That is a relief

To be honest.. this non essential vs essential buying is complete BS. We should be able to buy whatever we want!  
 
Having said that they need to LIMIT the amount of people in the stores. Restricting items is not the way to prevent the spread of virus. This is honestly have to be one of most ridiculous laws ever!

your local grocery store is misinformed, as you are by the sounds of things.

A lot of stores took air freshener off the shelf so either enforcement was misinformed ( they have visited our local store a few times) or their bosses misinterpreted regulations. Either way they were told to take air freshener OFF the shelf.

I can accept if air freshener was not considered essential but Lysol DISINFECTANT spray one would think should be at the top of the essential list.

Wal mart was just selling Lysol disinfectant spray last night. Even had it on sale on an end aisle. So I’m assuming the person checking you out didnt understand what they were doing lol

Some codes are blocked in tils so an item cannot be processed.  
Person in front of me at a drugstore had some cards and they wouldn't even scan the cashier just told her sorry not essential.

Before everyone jumps all over that - we automatically just grab and swipe items so we don't have to look at every item - we don't want to lose our job or get fined or reported by a customer for selling a non essential item. So yes items are flagged in our tils.

If you see an item consider essential you could just go and speak to customer service, and they will have management check it out.

So the cashier or the business made an error, it happens. In this case one could go to customer service and clarify with someone more well equipped to explain the situation than the cashier who is just there to scan the groceries. This seems like it isn't really a big deal.

this information! Every store i have been onto have the air fresheners blocked off, not for sale. They better get with the program.  
 
Christmas is going to be crappy enough, don't want that literally, lol  
 
There are tons of people with bowel diseases and need air freshener!

no where ive been in the last 3 weeks sells febreeze maybe im shopping in the wrong places lol
