The other day at the grocery store, I witnessed a lady pull her mask down, lick her fingers to open the produce bag & then proceed to touch a few tomatoes. I spoke up and told her this was disgusting and pointed out that her saliva was all over the tomatoes reminding her that Covid is spread by droplet transmission and what she did defeated the purpose of mask wearing and could potentially spread disease. She was speechless. The next time I saw her in the store, the mask wasn’t even over her nose and she was talking with someone...very disappointing to see, big reminder to wash your produce and keep hands off face when mask in place.

That is so disgusting..I would have reported her to the manager..

While I would never do that, those produce bags are such a struggle sometimes, and now even worse during this pandemic. I usually end up ripping it at the top to seperate them.

In regards to opening produce bags - if you just touch some of the moisture from the produce area it will do the trick. That area is full of water droplets from when the veggies are sprayed periodically.  
 
Definitely not a good idea to lick your fingers -as tempting as it might be!

is all I can say, Thats why we should wash fresh fruit and vegtables ,ALWAYS, even with no covid.

Moisten your fingers with hand sanitizer, makes it easy to open produce bags

Place bag between your 2 palms, rub hands and the bag will be easier to open  
 
But yes, even before covid, you should always wash your produce

Please consider purchasing reusable produce bags. I've had mine for two years and they are still in good condition.
