The Province has done Thursday’s Covid data update. Below is a comparison of the previous update. I've tweaked the format compared to prev posts to reflect a focus first on hospitalization data.  
 
Case data from the Provincial dashboard continues to be updated, though the province has said that between backlog and people that may not have tested the numbers are likely a serious under-representation of actual numbers (in reality 8-10x higher).

Provincially, CBC is reporting that today's hospitalization total is the highest of 2021/highest since the peak of the second wave in late December 2020. 

CBC reporting at the same link above that total ICU count for all patients is 93. Considering all weekend developments that number has reduced by 3 from 96. Normal pre-pandemic baseline is 72.

CBC is reporting that 418 represents a new pandemic high for Manitoba since the hospitalization number has been reported.

With the shift away from PCR tests in many cases, another level of complexity is involved in how to interpret case numbers and make relative comparisons... though am including them below for those who find value.

For those still following the active and recovery data with the requisite grain of salt, it was mentioned in a previous discussion that the recovery number has not been going up for the past couple of weeks while the active number has. With us now being more than a couple of weeks into this significant spike in Covid cases during the Omicron wave, I would not be surprised in the coming days to see recovery data updated to reflect a more current active-recovery balance.

WHL announces pausing of team activities for Brandon and Kelowna as a result of multiple players and staff being added to the WHL COVID-19 Protocol List due to exhibiting symptoms or having tested positive for COVID-19...

Data on total Manitoba ICU beds in use vs capacity has been reported by CBC on an ongoing basis, with today's number reported at 103. Yesterday that number was 100 and on Tuesday it was 102. The normal pre-pandemic baseline was 72 and capacity was most recently reported to be 115.

Those who continue to find value in that particular data can find it on the provincial dashboard, which the province updates on weekdays at 12:30pm.

Updated vaccine data shows that 85.2% of the population age 5 and over have now received at least one vaccine dose (+0.1% vs last update), 78.4% have received a second dose (+0.1% vs last update) and 37.0% have received a third dose (+0.5% vs last update). Prairie Mountain Health is showing at 77.5% (no change vs last data update).  

Brandon district data shows an 85.2% uptake rate in people age 5 and over (+0.1% vs previous update).

Data on total Manitoba ICU beds in use vs capacity has been reported by CBC on an ongoing basis, with today's number reported at 103. Yesterday that number was also 103. Last Friday the number in ICU was 102. The normal pre-pandemic baseline was 72 and capacity was most recently reported to be 115.

I don't have the information to be able to fully answer that, but I would assume that not all deaths will be in those who had already been admitted to ICU.

Some additional context might be found in the dataset at the link below. From that data, across Friday, Saturday and Sunday there were 18 new ICU admissions in Manitoba. During that time Active ICU increased by four from Thursday's 40 to 44 on Sunday. The current ICU total over that time increased by three from 46 to 49.

I have to tread carefully because my knowledge of ICU is limited, but I believe should mean that there were 15 that were in ICUs prior to Friday that no longer are whether they have recovered or whether they have sadly passed.  

Should be noted that from the same dataset, yesterday's nine admitted to ICU equals the most in one day since early June (nine were also admitted on January 11).

Most recently that I've seen, the capacity was reported to be 115 beds earlier this month. If anyone is aware of information on that capacity having been expanded, please share with source.

At a press conference this morning, it was announced that expiring existing public health orders would be extended for an additional week.  
Please watch the press conference at the link below to be as informed as possible. From that press conference, it was said that we are nearing a critical juncture where Omicron may be nearing a peak or peaking:  
 
- there remains significant spread, with wastewater testing showing high but stable transmission of the virus  
- effects on health care system show that though hospitalizations are high, the rate of hospitalization appears to be stabilizing  
- the rate of ICU occupancy/high rate of ICU admittance is not yet being described as stable, with the 110 number noted above currently in Manitoba ICUs between Covid-positive (54) and non-Covid patients. Based on models there are plans to be able to scale up ICU capacity within Manitoba to meet modelling  
 
The additional week will allow trends to be monitored before a decision is made on what public health orders look like in a week's time.
