Hi folks. Looking for info from people using Remicade. It looks like i may have to start this drug within the next month or so for Ulcerative Colitis. I was really hoping to hear from others about their experience.Did it work well?Any side effects? And also how much money(if any) did you end up paying out of pocket till Pharmacare kicked in?! The biologic im on(which seems to be failing me) was paid for by the manufacture for me till my pharmacare deductible kicked in last year. I would really appreciate any responses..nervous about this situation(health wise and financially). Thank you

I was on it for a few months. I opted to have treatments at the innomar clinic downtown. The other option is at the outpatient Center in the hospital. It worked great for me at the start. Felt the best I had in years. Only side effect was after the first 2 I was a little tired for the rest of the day. I built up antibodies though and had to switch. My insurance covered 80% and treatments where just over $3000 each for my dose levels. Phi zero does have a program to help pay if you are unable. I’m not sure what the criteria is though but you can ask the representative that calls you prior to treatments. The first treatment I would expect to be there 3hrs minimum. Good luck with your health this can be a brutal disease.

Hi. Did you pay the 20%($600) out of your pocket? Or did you take advantage of the Pfizer financial help?  
And i hope you found another medicine to help! how are you feeling now?

I paid the 20% the first time and it was less the second as my Manitoba phamacare had maxed out so they paid the rest. I am doing good now on another treatment but with biological treatments some build up antibodies quickly to them and I feel that will how my body is. I know my representative was super helpful but just 3 weeks after I found out I was going on it I met my deductible and decided to not go through there program. They do ask prior to sending the meds out though. At that point say you need assistance. I was unsure which would delay and make it harder to get later.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond about this. Bad enough being in a flare for 6 months... stressing about how you're going to afford future medications just makes it worse. I'm glad you found a treatment that's working for you! I hope to be there someday
