My mom is getting paneled for a personal care home, and will probably be moving into one in Brandon. Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Whatever PCH your Mom moves to it helps to know the staff especially who are the people in charge of fixing problems as they come up. Know that the PCH staff want this transition for your Mom to be as smooth as possible. If there are any concerns let them know right away so they can fix it. But also don't just tell a Health care aide or a staff member in the hallway. Talk to the Nursing coordinator or a nurse to get the problem fixed. The Social Worker is also a good contact if there is one on site.  
 
Make sure you give them up to date contact information for your Mom's main family contact.  
 
Gather some momentos or personal items for your Mom to take with her. It helps for her to have her room decorated with familiar items, family pictures etc.  
 
This is a big move for your Mom and the whole family. Your Mom may want to rest a lot and you should too if you need it.

It really should be thought about how well your mom will socialize. Some places have single rooms others have shared. Also recreation programs are important, one care home in brandon has a pet on most floors. Room size and what they can bring is important. Also ask about who the “senior” staff are and see how they act with other residents. Do some walk throughs if you can, see how other residents look, act etc.
