How does anyone get access to health care?? It doesn’t matter if you’re an adult or a baby.  
 
I went on the province’s list six years ago to get a family doctor. I have never been contacted with a doctor. I found a family doctor myself after seeing online that one was coming to a clinic. I contacted the clinic and after an interview was accepted as a patient.  
 
Now that doctor is leaving. They were mine and my baby’s doctor. They told me I would be the patient of another doctor who I’d seen at the clinic and my baby would stay with this same doctor. But this was not true. There is a huge disconnect from what the doctors say and what the receptionists tell you. The doctors say don’t worry you are still our patient but then the receptionist won’t let you book an appointment.  
 
I ask how do I get my baby their checkups and vaccinations. The receptionists reply that we’ll need to hope for the best and try walk in.  
 
It is extremely frustrating to have finally found a doctor (that we love) and now to be left with nothing. Nobody cares either. How is it this impossible to find health care in Canada??

very frustrating. Ive had a heart attack and a bunch of stents and am having increasingly worse copd. The situation has gone from frustrating to worrisome. If i could I'd just goto Winnipeg. IMHO Services in Brandon are in decline here in Brandon.

One way in which we can all help the health care system run more efficiently is to use the appropriate health care provider for our care.  
For routine child immunizations, call the Public Health office. There is no need to have a physician give immunizations, when public health nurses (who are RNs) are educated and qualified to do so.  
Winnipeg is not going to be any easier to find a GP than Brandon.

My dr is still in Brandon and they told me multiple times they would still be our doctor but then if you try to make an appointment the receptionists will not schedule one because they say the dr said not too.  
 
We had some appts scheduled in advance and I had talked to the dr and they said to phone the next week to schedule the appointment. When I call the next week the receptionists won’t do anything. I’m just doing what the dr told me to a week ago and it’s still impossible to get an appt. It’s not like you can contact the dr for clarification. And of course you can’t find a doctor anywhere else either.
