Any home remedies other than ice to help with constant heel pain. Particularly the Achilles tendon. Have . been to 2 foot clinics in Brandon, but got no relief. Maybe a machine of some type that would help with the circulation or massaging it?

Hello, Are stretches an option for this individual? Perhaps holding on to a railing and letting heals hang off of the step would be safe. If the pain is from tightness, this may work, but the stretches will have to be kept up. It’s such a large and important tendon.

He is in his mid nineties other than that he is all good but the Achilles pain is tremendous. Stretches is a good recommendation but for those older pioneer types hard to get going steady. Was thinking something  
that could supply instant pain relief. Tried icy hot and voltaren but they did next to nothing. That’s why I was looking for some kind of home remedy or some type of effective foot massage application. I’ve never had any kind of pains in my Achilles tendon, so I can’t imagine what it would be like but apparently it’s agonizing at times.

Would try and get a diagnosis to know what’s wrong. Could be something like foot drop as well in which case you can get a bootie to wear during the night that pulls the foot into a flexed position. Maybe try a physiotherapist they are really amazing professionals that take soft issue injuries seriously.

Yes I agree a proper diagnosis would be the best course of action but I have noticed that once you get to be very elderly seems like the professionals have less time for you or maybe even care a little less. I guess that’s what’s in store for me down the road. I hope not.

Unfortunately, there is probably no 'instant relief'. Did he see a Podiatrist at the foot clinics? Were they able give him a diagnosis?

Well he went to two foot clinics and one said go home there’s nothing wrong with your feet and then charged him $100. Meanwhile he can barely walk or keep balance with painful Achilles tendons. So that’s why I asked for home remedies. Not much faith in some of these so called specialists especially when it comes to the elderly. His regular home doctor is not much better. This is the world we live in unfortunately. Why spend money on anyone that old it seems. Horrible attitude but I’ve seen a lot of it.

I've battled heel pain for many years and found that Dr. Scholl's did provide SOME relief. I don't know what foot clinincs you went to, but I went to Dr. Ball on Victoria and he fixed me up with orthotics. If you're not having much luck with them, I would suggest Brandon Occupational Therapy Clinic as I've heard good things about the team there. Other than that, edibles work for short term pain relief, but check with your doctor first in case they interfere any meds. also, maybe the Brandon Acupuncture and Chinese massage clinic.
