I'm hoping to get set up for MAID. Does anyone know the timeframe involved?

You would be best to call them and explain your own situation, and/or talk to your Dr. Each situation is very individual. Most I know have been very quickly as was decided last minute. Also have seen one decided in advance so was a wait by their own choice.

I really doubt this is a good place to ask about this. I am sure your doctor is better equipped to answer your questions.

You might want to contact Dying with Dignity. I don't believe there is a chapter in Brandon but here is a link for the one in Winnipeg. I don't have any experience with this but I'm guessing they should be able to answer any questions for you.

Thanks for your help. I'm hoping to die very soon and don't want it to be a drawn out process.

From the Shared Health website:  
"The approximate time from the initial inquiry to administration of medications that result in death is variable and will differ depending on each case. Patients with a reasonably foreseeable natural death can expect the process to take weeks to months, whereas patients without a reasonably foreseeable natural death can expect the process to take a minimum of 3 months."

Looks like it will have to be plan B. I'm not going to wait a week or more.

I really would just phone MAID yourself and ask or talk to your Dr. Most I know have been connected and decisions made in a number of days. I would not rely on the internet or people's own opinions or experiences.
