Cold from Hell

Ok this is week #4 for me with this cold. My 3 year old got it first, then I got it, then my wife got it. After the first week, I went to the doctor and got antibiotics for it and it seemed to subside after about a week, then it came back in full force once again, that was a week ago and it's been on and off in varying degrees ever since with the whole family.
Some of my relatives have gotten this cold as well with some of them on week 5! Has anyone else had this cold? Is it just me or do the colds this year seem more violent and last longer this year than ever before. How much longer do I have to endure this??
