Medication side affect?

This is confusing I'm not sure if it's the medication or what...
Couple weeks ago I was medicated for a ear infection..the same time I started taking the meds I got a small ache in my throat...once the meds were all done the sore throat disappeared.
NOW I'm on meds for the SAME ear infection again, and I started taking the meds yesterday and woke up and the sore throat is back...is this a side affect or normal!?
