Experience on antidepressants
3/7/2010 at 10:40 AM
Almost 20 years ago I was experiencing headaches, usually back of head. My doctor put me on amitriptyline and said it would take up to a year for it to take affect. Sure enough after taking it for a year, my headaches were gone, but I stayed on the drug so they wouldn't come back. A few years ago, I had to stop taking all my medication to see what was causing my liver problems. Well, I was okay for about a month or two, then gradually my nerves got worse & worse until I couldn't even think of leaving the house. After everything else was ruled out, doctor put me on citalopram, which I am still on. I still have nervous episodes, but at least it helps me to have a life. What I'm trying to say is that I regret now going on an antidepressant all those years ago because now I'm totally dependent on them. I had no idea that would happen. If you need an antidepressant for anxiety or depression, please get all the facts before starting.
