So, has anyone been following the tale of the two brothers suffering from MS and their journey to Poland for the controversial CCSVI (Chronic Cerebro-Spinal Venous Insufficiency) surgery? It was just reported on CBC Radio One that they both successfully underwent the surgery this morning and Duncan, the brother from Winnipeg, is reported to be elated and already feeling warmth returning to his hands.
I'm so excited about this surgery. I know governments have been reluctant to bring this treatment to Canada because of the small sample size studied so far but it looks so promising. I think we should all be lobbying the MS society to get lobbying the government to get researching CCSVI here in Canada. Manitoba is a hot spot for MS: we should really be leading the charge here.
CBC has been following their story. There was a piece on last night's CBC Wpg news and look for another tonight.

Also, Evan Thornton, the brother in Ottawa has been blogging his experience here:

He's got a number of interesting links from his blog, as well.
