cleaning spots without chemicals

got olive oil on my favorite pants and as I am exploring more natural methods of cleaning products/less chemicals so got on the net to find out what to do
and one suggestion was:
sprinkled baking soda on the stain, cover it with a cloth,then iron
it worked! the stain is gone!
the baking soda absorbed the oil
no chemicals ,little cost
yipeeeeeeeee
