Questions about M.S.

What tests does one have to endure to find out if they have M.S.?? Our friend went to a neo yesterday, he asked for symtpoms and checked eyes, muscles, walking, reflexes etc. gave some blood work (low thyroid, magnesium, calcium were ruled out as causes) and set her up for an M.R.I. Can anyone help out, I'd really appreciate it thanks.
