Physician Assistant at Meredith Medical

What is a PA?
Not everyone knows what a PA is or does, so I would like to clarify as I work at Meredith Medical.
First, our PA, Sylvie Seaward does not have a doctor title because she isn't a doctor.
No one from Meredith Medical has ever represented Sylvie as a doctor. She is a PA and that is why she goes by her first name.
Most people don't know that PA's have been around the health care system for years, you just may not have heard of them or understood what abilities they have.
Duties of a PA can change depending on where they work, mirroring the doctor he/she works with/for.
Sylvie mirrors what Dr. Meredith has the ability to do such as:
-She can have her own patient base
-she can order lab tests and imaging requests
-she is able to write referrals
-she can write prescriptions for patients (with the exception of controlled substances)
-she can perform routine exams (including physicals)
Sylvie received her training through the military and has experience working with a Orthopedic surgeon before working at Meredith Medical.
Dr. Meredith and staff are proud to work with Sylvie and she is a wonderful addition to our clinic. Dr. Meredith has known her for 10 years and worked with her at Shilo Base Clinic and at the hospital.
