Grassfed

I went looking for grass-fed beef/elk/bison before, some places will say they are grass-fed, grass-finished, ect. But when pressed say they supplement the feed with grain during the winter.. So how are they different from any other rancher?
Thing is winter is very long here in mb and just dry hay isn't quite enough. It's easier to find 100% grass fed in other milder parts of Canada and especially the states, where livestock have a longer grazing season. But if you can find a place please let me know.
Superstore sells lamb from NZ, its grass fed from birth to slaughter, if your okay with eating babies.
If your a dairy person, butter from 100% grass-fed cows has some considerable health benefits, but is not produced in Canada and is subject to 299% tariff.
But if TPP is approved, expect to see it on store shelves.
