My toddler is sick with a suspected ear infection and we are getting ready to head to walkin this morning. He has had a reaction to the banana flavored amoxicillin (which he tolerated well), so he can't have it anymore. What's another option that is well tolerated by your kids? We've tried many different ones and it's been tough. He's to the point where he thinks all medicine is the same and refuses it. Azithromax (sp?) seems to be the best but Walmart doesn't carry the flavored (we'd gotten flavored before when on vacation). Has anyone gotten the flavored anywhere in Brandon? Or I've heard some pharmacists can flavor it.

Is he allergic to amoxicillin?If not you can ask for the surgar free amoxicillin,it is strawberry flavored...Ask for clavulin,,,,amoxicillin and clavulanic acid....ask doctor if this would be a better medicine for stubborn ear infections,,,( not to be used in penicillin allergy)

Also is available in "chewable bubblegum flavored tablets for kids..I know you can get it strawberry liquid,,just not positive if its the surgar free formulation or not,,ask pharnacist for the red one..

and were always prescribed antibiotics. Then we got a new Dr in our area and he said too much antibiotics not good as they will become resistant. He said put drop of warm oil in ear. So we bout Cerumel I think is called and gave that and after that they never had to get antibiotics again...(for ear infection).was miracle. Since then I have read article on this subject saying the same thing. You can use any oil, olive oil etc but cerumol is used for ears, sold in drugstore. Sorry if spelling is not quite right. Good luck. It is no fun, I even had baby in hospital on IV from the ear infection.

Mix the medicine in a favorite fruit drink or apple sauce. Just make sure its a small enough amount that they will consume it all. There are sweeteners that are used in Pharmacies for oral suspensions...doesnt hurt to ask the Pharmacist if they can improve the flavour.

Shoppers carries the flavoured. It's also what my kids tolerate the best and it's only once a day!
