How do you find out which doctors prescribe it in Brandon ?  
 
can you get it in a pill form ?  
 
pain is so bad to the point I can not sleep cry all the time so painful I have tried all sorts of meds no relief.any info would be great.  
 
If your family doctor can not prescribe will they refer you to someone else ?

Not judgemental at all, as I believe in the benefits of medical marijuana, specifically medical grade oil.

As far as I know, there are no Dr`s in Brandon willing to prescribe it. Yes, you can get it in pill form (if you can find a Doctor). The problem is....finding a doctor. The Liberals are revamping a bunch of the laws for August of this year regarding medical marijuana patients, so maybe more physicians will be willing to prescribe it. Personally, if it saves some lives from opiate overdoses, I think that physicians should be more on board with alternatives such as this. Good luck Rue.

Hi there. We live in a time now in this great country where doctor's do not need to be licensed in medical marijuana specifically to get you medical marijuana. All you need now is a "Doctor Referral",(Not the doctor actually writing the prescription, just referring you to the dispensaries specialist. Therefore ANY licensed doctor OF ANY KIND can do this for you) you give this to any dispensary in Canada, and you can legally buy marijuana in Canada, anywhere in Canada. The toughest part is still finding an open minded doctor, as most still want you to purchase medication through them.  

As I am a patient Myself living with a chronic disease, I have been doing this for the last year with 0 symptoms whatsoever and no other medication (was on 4 before moving to marijuana) If you want more info PM me, I would love to help if you need it as I am a strong advocate of Medical Marijuana use.

What your looking for when you ask this is "CBD Capsules" This will help tremendously with your pain. Avoid "THC capsules" as that will give you the Psychoactive effects ( If your asking about the pill im assuming you are looking for that option) CBD capsules are a great way for people who don't actually smoke the flower to feel the effects of the Cannabinoids without the euphoric feeling some people experience when taking cannabis.

I have a medical marijuana prescription though not for pain but I could not find a local Dr to prescribe it. My family Dr told me she could not prescribe it as she lacks the required license to do so. I believe the nearest one is in Winnipeg. I did a search online and found greendoctornetwork.com and got my prescription through them - but it cost me $450 to register and get the prescription. This is BEFORE I was allowed to order.  
 
It needs to be cheaper - there should be no fee for medical marijuana registration/prescription in my opinion: it should be treated the same as any other prescription.

While it can help some, it is by far not the same as using the natural form. Side effect for my MSer was his legs feeling like cement.  
 
Yes you need a Dr to prescribe Medical Marijuana but you first must prove to your Dr that you have exhausted other forms of pain relief.  
 
We live in rural Manitoba and no difficulty with obtaining a prescription after trying several other meds.  
 
You do not need a "License to Possess" any longer, in fact the Federal Government quit issuing them a few years ago. You need to download the forms from a government licensed grower, print them, take them to your Dr to be filled out with your prescription amount, return the forms and script to the grower, they will issue a card (similar to a debit card) for you to carry on your person, with the card will come all the instructions you will need as to how to obtain product.  
 
Any questions....feel free to send me a pm and I will try and help you out. It can be a lengthy and frustrating process with the red tape but checks and balances are in place for a reason.

The natural plant is illegal yet has never been directly linked to a death, ever.

Unfortunately doctors are not aware of this yet, as marijuana is technically not a practised form of medicine in every doctor's book. you are very right, it is very expensive. There is a few networks like "thegreendoctors" but this is a way to do this, without the 400$ Skype costs. Because a physician "DOES NOT NEED A MEDICAL MARIJUANA LISENCE TO REFERR YOU TO A DISPENSARY" That is what the dispensary is for. They are the specialists. Every dispensary has a form called a "Patient referral form" that you take to your normal doctor, and they sign this paper (usually a little fee, no more then $100) FAX it back to the dispensary, and that Is essentially the same thing as a "Dispensary card" and you are free to shop there and purchase anything. Doctor's are allowed to do this because they are not technically prescribing you any type of medication.  
In BC, Toronto, if you go to any dispensary, you don't need a MMAR, or none of that. You just go upstairs and talk to there "In-House Nurse" and you pay $60 bucks and you have your dispensary card. For us here in Manitoba we do not have this sort of access to dispensaries, so this allows us to be able to have access to dispensaries just like our western folk. it is all 100% legal.

A doctor may not need a 'lisence', and may be able to sign a form.....but that does not mean that he/she will do it for you. There are many MDs who will not sign those forms.

And those MD's are ones that will not in your best interest health wise. They will just hand you a bottle of something and say come back in 2 weeks. Or give you Opiates for your in pain, Or Xanax if your depressed. "But something that can actually help you without hurting you? AND your not buying it from our pharmacy? pfft, why would we sign this?"  
A doctor should be pushing to help you get the things you need to feel well.  
Sure it's not for everybody. Never said it was.  
But if it's what's right for you, and it's improving your quality of life, they should really have no problem signing it for you.

Yes, any physician can prescribe it, they don't need a license or special training. But none of the doctors in Brandon will. They claim that "they aren't allowed to" or just flat out refuse. If you manage to obtain your prescription, technically, you are only allowed to purchase from the 8 or 9 pre-approved "government" growers, through the mail. There are zero government approved physical dispensaries, they are all online.  
 
You cannot name a grower or grow your own unless you are under the pre 2011 system. They just dropped the final challenge to that in the Supreme court though, so look for changes there.  
 
There are other dispensaries in Vancouver that will accept you as a client (once you have a prescription.)They send you a membership card, but again, technically, they are illegal as well. The city of Vancouver however, has chosen to license them, as they have decided: if you can't beat 'em, keep them away from school and collect a $30,000/yr fee from them.  
 
As I said before, the new health minister is allegedly reviewing the medical marijuana system and will release her recommendations in August. The Supreme court has ruled in favour of the patients every time, so I can see it becoming much easier to navigate the system soon. We just went through this a year ago for my arthritic, getting pretty crippled hubby, and it is a lot of work. Again, good luck, and hang in there Rue

My prescription renewal is coming up. If anyone knows a cheaper way than the $450 fee charged by greendoctornetwork I would certainly love to hear the details about it as I just don't have the money for that at present.

Holy crap that is a pile of money.....we never even paid the GP to put the quantity per month and sign the form....We also deal with a grower out of Ontario not that it matters....still gets mailed to our door...and I find it hard to believe that NO doctors will sign the form....I know of 2 that did....albeit they were 25 miles out of Brandon....we are doing the renewal on Friday (April 15) and are not anticipating any issues and it is with a new Dr. I think an awful lot depends on the health condition of the person....Dr's are more willing to write a script for "Oxy" than endorse a plant....we had to go that route as well...have to jump through the hoops...

I'll check with the clinic again. I keep getting told different things and finding anything online is a royal pain....

If I recall Dr Engelbrecht would prescribe medical marijuana, I know a few people who saw him who used medical marijuana as treatment. However he is no longer with us. Maybe one of his colleagues would be able to help?

That clinic was closed the last time I looked and yes, he was the only one in Brandon who would prescribe.

I was recently discussing with a member of my family that another member of our family might benefit from marijuana in pill form that didn't make you "high". He is in his 70s, suffering from arthritis, on oxygen and was recently diagnosed with cancer. I didn't realize there was such a pill!

Firstly, there ARE doctors around here that will prescribe it. As mentioned by a previous poster, for it to be viewed as any other medication, you must have exhausted other reasonable options. This is not a drop in thing they should do, and if you have a good doc and a good relationship with your doc, it should be an easy conversation if you go prepared. Do your homework folks!  
Licenced producers and dispensaries are NOT the same thing. Dispensaries are not regulated and approved by health Canada who governs the medical marijuana program. They far surpass producers in the variety of products they offer, but as mentioned, completely illegal.  
There are strains specific to conditions. There are products specific to conditions and there are delivery systems specific to condition.  
Synthetic= no good. Entourage effect of cannabanoids, synthetic forms can't do it. ..look it up.  
The delivery systems really get confusing when people talk about oil and oil in capsules. Oil that people smoke is not oil that, for example, cancer patients would use. Oil sublingually is also common, and all can be with or without the "high" component.  
Strains are as varied as roses and are just as different. Again, do some reading. Basic strain cat agonies are Indica, Sativa, Hybrid and high CBD.  
From candies to suppositories to pill to oil that you take orally, cannabis holds promise to relieving suffering where conventional methods have failed.
