Not sure if it's the same thing or what you're looking for but a summer or 2 ago, we saw a young man up at clear lake doing a bunch of exercising on the play structure. He was using it in ways to get a cool workout in and he was really good with the kids there. They loved him and watching him and he played with them and gave them some tips to do things he was doing. I thought it was pretty neat!  
 
If that is similar, I'd suggest checking out Rideau park or the one just off Durham in the west end.

..at the Discovery Center? I was there the other day and there was something like what you're looking for beside the staff parking lot?

Maybe someone could confirm if there is exercise equipment near the 1st splash park. I seem to remember seeing some there earlier in the year when I drove past the park.

seriously those statue equipment are a joke to me. Are you seen anyone using them for real workout?  
I didn't see anything like on the picture the op showed at the discovery centre because you are surrounded of slides, ladders close to you not enough space to more around to me anyway as beginner
