    Has anyone ever taken compassionate care leave from work for a terminally ill family member? I'm looking into doing this and I was wanting some advice on how you went about it besides the general information I found online. Also how did your work take it, I'm afraid mine wont be very happy with me but I want to be with my family during this time not at work.

    On if your unionized or not, this is one of those times being unionized helps. Also it depends on where you work, and how much time they allow you off. Don't worry about your work being happy about it. Family is important and if they can't understand that hope they never have to be in the same situation

    Your Dr, Home Care, Palliative Care Coordinator, or Cancer Care should be able to help you with this.  
     
    The link on the Government website is you are entitled to 28 weeks, and your employer may not discriminate to attempt to punish.

    Yes I know unionized or not all Manitobans if qualified can go on compassionate care leave I didn't know till I did some digging. I know technically my boss cannot stop me or anything just get the feeling they will be difficult. I just wondered if anyone had any first hand experience but thanks everyone.
