We have...

The best back surgeon in North America, maybe one of the best in the world. No kidding. I have been told this by many of our local doctors in town. We are very lucky to have him in town !!
As for the herniated disc, I had a fusion and a disc replacement done over 8 months ago. There are risks for every kind of back surgery. Things feel much better and I must continue to be smart with my back.
Not sure how long and serious your disc problems are but most family doctors will say 'over 75% of back problems will heal with treatment and meds'. If you are the in the 25% that doesn't get better with meds and treatment you will prob require surgery to improve your quality of life.
At the worst of times I was taking 6-10 pills a day to manage the pain. I had no back pain ever, I had total nerve pain in the leg. My quality of life deteriorated for 3 years and family life was devastated at times.....
No more meds since surgery and the nerve is settling down...
Good luck
