Started this thread last summer but can't find it now. There were some recommendations of where to stay when taking family members to the hospital for procedures . I believe one place mentioned was the Norwood.? Any other suggestions ?

The canad inn attached to the hsc has a medical rate of $130/night.

the econo lodge at 690 notredame ave, about 5 mins to hsc...if going to hsc is a smaller clean place, and cheaper by about $40..our second last stay we tried the canad at hsc and were very disappointed in it. but depends on what youre having done on the extra bit of distance to go.

I took a friend to Wpg. for appointment at the Cancer Clinic, stayed at Mainstay Suites out by the airport. Free parking and about a $12 cab ride to the Cancer Clinic which is much easier and cheaper than trying to find parking at the hospital.  
It's clean and quiet, continental breakfast. Nice touch - late afternoon/evening hot soup light snack, it was perfect for someone not feeling up to going out for supper.

I have stayed at the Can ads Inn by Polo Park. ask for their medical rate.  
 
They also have a courtesy van during certain hours. May save you some parking costs.  
 
The pool and hot tub is an added bonus.  
 
If you are there for a child try the Ronald McDonald house!  
 
The hospital may have some very cheap rooms too.

Long term stay in Winnipeg for medical?

We have a family member who will be undergoing a serious heart procedure and will be required to stay in hospital for at least a week after the operation . The operation will be performed at the St. Boniface Hospital . If anyone has gone through this can they recommend places to stay nearby that won't necessarily break the bank . There would be 4 family members needing to stay in the city. Thx.

This is a great place to stay. You will have to fill out a form and have the hospital fill out part too but it's not difficult to do. I've known people who have stayed there for the very reason you need a place. Decent priced and very nice. Check out the website or give them a call. Would recommend them over and over again!  
 
There were a number of recommendation for the Norwood hotel! It's right on Marion near Tache. St. Boniface Hospital is only a two block walk from there!

We stayed at the best Western in headingly. Or Ronald McDonald house may be an option

If you are going to Cancer Care or HSC, there is Lennox Lodge to the south, just before the Women's Centre.

A few of the Wpg hospitals have an old nurses residence attached that you can rent a room for  
about $50/night? Some have single beds, or two beds in one room.

Sandman hotel in Winnipeg has a medical appointment rate, they have a form that the clinic that you are going to needs to fill out and then you had it in at check in time and then the rate is 89.99
