I noticed a painful spot on the ball of my foot, and upon further inspection, there seems to be a shard of something buried deep in there. It's not really painful, but I can't see it getting any better on its own.

Is this appropriate to go to a walk in for? Or do I keep digging myself?

Well if you can't get it go to the walk in. Chances are they will cut it open and get it out for you. If stitches are needed they can do them there, or glue it shut.

I would say family Dr first then if you cant get in within a reasonable amount of time then walk in would work

Hubby stepped on a piece of glass and infection ended up halfway up his leg. Ten days of IV antibiotics...don't leave it.

Are you diabetic? Suffer from neuropathy? You should see a Doctor and get an assessment completed.

Those are the worst, I'd go to the doctor if you don't get it out in the next day or two.

I'm not diabetic or anything else. Mt bf worked at it last night, and said he got something shiny out. Hard to tell if all of it out, because it is sore from digging.

Applied rubbing alcohol, then polysporin and a band-aid. I'll keep an eye on it for redness and go from there. Thanks everyone.
