Does anyone in Brandon have the flu..this is the second time for me in a month...high temperature..upset stomach...aches and pain...a sharp pain in my side for a few hours but gone now...just feel like crap...headache...sinuses are aching...a little bit of everything...

I ended up with influenza and have been off of work because of it. Horrible aches, chills, fever, sweats, a cough, congestion... so, so exhausted! I was barely able to get out of bed the last few days and felt so dizzy. It has been hell. I feel for anyone else who has it.

I have it, as well. I don't think I've ever been this sick in my life. This is a nasty one!

I have/had this flu virus. Started 3 weeks ago and I'm still feeling the effects...as already stated this is a nasty one... I rarely get sick the way I was with this one.

I have been so sick this weekend...and I am alone...so that scares me...no work tomorrow..I cant go in and give it to my co workers or customers...but its a big NO NO to be sick and not go into work...do you know if anywhere delivery's groceries...I need energy drinks and ginger-ale and bottled water and bread for toast....I too..have not felt good for almost 3 weeks...

The flu is often accompanied by assorted body and head aches. But, a sharp pain in the side can be cause for concern. Maybe just keep aware of it, if it comes back and seems to be worsening, you need to get to a walk-in and have it checked, just in case.

Just curious if any of you who are sick had the flu shot? If you have, then I want to be extra careful when I'm out in public.

Thank you...I will keep my eye on it...I have bad arthritic on that left side..in my back..hip..down my leg and left hand...have meds for it..I just thought it got a little worst from being in bed so long..this damp weather is bad for arthritis..I had no sleep last week...in such bad pain...  
and I have not had the flu shot and always stay home away from the public when I am sick...I just wish the staff that I work with would do the same...

It's scary to be alone and sick.

It's a bad one.....we recycled it in our family for a month. Would start feeling better it seemed, and then would be down and out for a few days over again. Lots of aches and pains, sore throat, coughing.  
Is there a stomach bug going around now as well, or is it just this influenza bug? I'm really tired of everyone being sick, so I'm hoping we are over whatever it is that is going around.

The flu is a respiratory infection. Kind of like a cold but you have a fever, chills, etc. A stomach ache is just a stomach bug...not the flu.

Not completely true.....influenza can cause stomach issues, especially in children. A high fever, or just the general aches and pains of influenza are enough to make some people vomit, as well as drainage from sinus's into the stomach can cause people to vomit. It's just generally not persistent vomiting or diarrhea as you would have if you had a stomach bug.

Fight it before it starts by eating vitamins. A multi, 4 C tablets, 1 D tablet in the winter, 1 B, and echanasia.  
 
Also go to the chiropractor and get a back x-ray, and a back crack. Then head down to Brock at the natural wellness clinic to massage out the crap and get the circulation going.  
 
I started doing all of this and I haven't been sick in 3 years. No cold, flu, or anything else.  
 
We never take care of our bodies and give them the fuel they need and then we wonder why we get sick.

Be conscious about touching your nose and face with your hands. Especially after being at someones house, out at the mall or grocery store, or in a public washroom.  
 
Also, never wash your hands in a public washroom. I dont understand why people do this unless You have actually peed on your hands. Why would you want to pick up everyones germs from in there by touching the tap, soap dispenser, and hand dryer/towel dispenser? Flush the toilet with your foot and keep your hands to yourself. The goal should be to get out of that germ infested wasteland as soon as possible, not linger around and touch everything. Even if everything is motion sensors, wetting your hands does more to activate the germs. How could your own germs possibly be worse than exposing yourself to the things in there 1000s of other people have touched? Your own bottle of hand sanitizer is 1000x more hygienic. Its not that hard to take a leak without even touching your own business down there anyways. Its a skill, learn it.

This is mostly kids but sometimes grown men as well.  
 
It's unbelievable the amount of people I see peeing into a urinal and rubbing the arms of their shirt or jacket on the outside of the urinal because they are worried someone might see their precious penis. It's completely disgusting. I swear people get sick because they are just generally uneducated about hygiene.

fever, chills, body pain but worst of all a crippling headache that acetaminophen barely touches. I can walk around only for a few minutes before feeling sick to my stomach from head pain then I have to lay down. Much fun!

Eating properly and making sure your body has the nutrients needed maintain a healthy immune system is important, and using proper hygienic practices are also important, but one should remember that some of these bugs are in the air because of sneezing, or are expelled just by breathing.  
Thought I might add that sometimes when a person doesn''t get a cold or flu, when others do, is because of previous exposure to a bug that was very similar, and have antibodies that can minimize the effects if the infection. The severity of this bug makes me wonder if it is not somewhat similar to a bug that hit in the winter of 68/69.

so-you use a public washroom and don't wash your hands because you prefer your germs to those of others...except you are now spreading YOUR germs around for everyone else. Trust me-no one else wants your germs so please do wash your hands. Use a paper towel to turn the tap off if it isn't the automatic kind and you will not pick up germs.  
Ewww. That's disgusting when people don't wash after using the washroom.

You're dillusional if you think everyone washes there hands with soap and hot water and then doesn't touch the exit handle or towel dispenser just picking up more germs anyways. This utopia you have in your mind doesn't exist.  
 
Obviously with number 2 you need to wash the hands and make sure you touch nothing on the way out, but I refuse to expose myself to a thousands germs if I took a leak without even touching my penis, that's silly and irresponsible. Who does number 2 in a public washroom unless it's an emergency anyways?  
 
Public washrooms are disgusting and I won't be trusting my hygene and personal well being with the caretaker and other people who are generally careless with what they touch with their germy hands.

As for the big concern about urine, I don''t think that I would be getting bent out of shape over urine, unless of course the person who took a leakwas suffering from an UTI. Urine is usually looked at as a sterile solution. It may not alway smell the greatest but that can be the result of many things, things like medication, or even foods and beverages. There are reported cases where miners are forced to drink their own urine to prevent complete dehydration.

This is exactly why germs are spread. People think that just because it's their own germs that they do not need to be sanitary. Guess what, your germs hurt other people, not you. People think the same thing about their own homes. If you have been ill, and are staying home, you should still sanitize things in your home after the illness is done. Just because you can't catch the bug again immediately, by not cleaning up after yourself, cleaning your bathroom, washing your bed sheets, etc., you are then just gonna track those nasty germs out in to public once you are able to leave the house.  
 
In my opinion all public washrooms should have automatic flushers, sinks, soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, etc., so that no one has to touch anything. Hell, there should even be a foot button thing by the door to automatically open it. People are disgusting, so making it as user friendly as possible so that lazy people don't have the chance to make the place filthy would be helpful for everyone.

I get lots of rest..take my vitamins..clean alot..never touch my hands to my eyes..nose or mouth when working as I work with customers...but I have got the flu twice this month...I never use the public washroom...and if I do I always flush with my foot...  
Me being from Nova Scotia and so friendly I find that Brandon has the greatest people...and this site is the BEST...
