Social Assistance coverage?

I have a pres:cription from a doctor for a massage therapist and a chiropractor does anyone know if those would be covered?

I tried getting in contact with them but no one has answered my question.

The reason why I'm asking is that my back is in so much pain I can barley walk

Here is info directly from the government website, hope this helps:

•Chiropractic (back and spine) treatment – help if you need more chiropractic appointments than are covered by Manitoba Health. Before EIA pays for extra costs, the Chiropractic Review Panel must look at your request and approve payment before you make an appointment with the chiropractor.

Massage therapy and chiropractor are not going to do anything. You'll need physio. IF it's so bad you can't walk.

Back when I lived in Bdn I remember hearing that you get 12 free chiropractic visits a year? That was a long time ago, I could be wrong. But I do think you may get a certain number of visits per year. We'd go to Dr. Bob (not sure if he's still around).

MB health pays around $11-$12 per visit for 12 visits (it may have gone up since then) a year. You are responsible for the rest. Most chiropractors charge around $50-$70 per visit. Or who knows maybe the mb gov scrapped that by now lol

I am somewhat familiar with EIA - If you are on assistance, EIA will top up a portion of the extra costs - maybe all. If you are not on assistance, you will have to apply and if your financial situation makes you eligible for assistance, you will get it as well as help with Chiro costs. Either way, I would suggest you talk to an EIA Counsellor - they don't bite.
