The responsibility of the occupant to clear the sidewalk adjoining their property - whether they own or rent the property.
That is Unless the owner has specifically said they will take care of maintenance of lawn and snow removal.
I add that extra line because in the case of my newest neighbors, I saw the rental ad right here on eBrandon and it was in bold letters that snow clearing and grass cutting was responsibility of the renter (though they have never once picked up a shovel)
Really sad and pathetic to see so many able bodied people being so lazy about this. On my block my property is surrounded by lazy people on both sides , and of the thirteen houses, only five of us take any pride in clearing our sidewalks. We get thanked often by our mail carrier - he really appreciates the effort.
I hate seeing so many pedestrians walking on the streets as they have no place to go. Someone will get hurt or worse. Cripes, one lady was walking with her walker down Victoria this afternoon around 4 pm - tying up traffic because none of the residents down that stretch had cleared.
