I absolutely can't stand berber carpet!!!

I have Berber carpet in my home and I cant stand it!!! Whenever something spills i clean it right away but then they still are in the carpet NICE and dark so everyone can see!! This is so frustrating what can i do to Keep it clean and how do i get these old set in stains out????? I really could use a rug Dr i guess!!
