always intrigued me that a crazy amount of seagulls go to the dump. I’ve been thinking i might want one comes when it’s warmer. anyone with birds no what i would maybe have to feed one?

Just throw all your garbage in your back yard.They'll show up eventually.

Keeping a seagull as s pet is not allowed in Canada.  
 
All gulls in North America are protected under the International Migratory Bird Treaty. You cannot kill them and you cannot keep one in confinement.

Those are not Seagulls you see at the landfill. They are in fact a Ring-billed Gull or also sometimes referred to as a Garbage Gull. No one would want one as a pet, not even a guy that is trolling at 1am on a Sunday!

Before anyone says. I am not an animal rights person.  
 
But why do you want to cage a wild bird like that?  
 
Enjoy them in their habitat.  
 
I hate seeing them filling that water on the 110. There are so many different birds that used that as their home. Even pelicans. Very sad.

The term sea gull is somewhat generic and applies to all species of gulls, much like the term sparrow or warbler applies to all varieties in that family / suborder. Most varieties of gulls will eat pretty much anything - from live fish, animals, insects, vegetation, carrion, ofal and - of course - food garbage thrown out by you and me. They have an unhinging jaw much like snakes and can swallow much larger pieces of food than would seem likely. They clean up our mess and create their own...recycling at it’s finest.

Actually no the gulls at the landfill are not seagulls but whatever. Pick a flavor just not the seagull flavor.
