I feel your pain myhandleistrain; some people are very neglectful in their responsibilities as pet owners and yes it is disgusting to step in it or have to clean up after other people's pets. I do realize that sometimes you forget to bring poop bags with you as it's happened to me. However, I take note of where my dog has done their business and actually take the time to drive back to where it is located and clean it up.  
 
Every year I am having to continually clean up my front yard, which my dogs don't use, just because someone has been too lazy to clean up after their dog while out on their walk. It's disrespectful, rude and just plain ignorant. If I ever catch someone in the act of letting their dog poop in my yard, I'll be the first to confront them and tell them to clean up. Please people, have the decency to respect people's property and even public sidewalks and clean up after your pooches.

About a week ago I was at a relative's home. There is an area (unfenced) near the rear of the home that some dog owner has been allowing their pet to use for its toilet. Without exaggeration It looks as though it's been used every day for a month or more. It must be a fairly large dog too. When I have time I go by, keeping an eye out for the culprit. If I see it happening I will follow them home and then report it to both the police and city by-law enforcement with details and an address.  
 
What I witnessed (the piles of crap left for someone else to deal with) is one of the most disgusting displays of pet ownership I have ever seen.

Fargobob, I was thinking the exact same thing about people who let their pets poop on my front lawn. Instead of confronting them, just follow them home and then report their address to BPS and let the authorities deal with the culprit. That is so rude of the person doing that to your relative's home. I get it if you have a big dog, it can be a real mess to clean up after them. I've had 2 big labs and potty cleanup was never fun. But I certainly would never leave it for someone else to clean up, let alone ruin someone else's property. Today's society is so full of self-centered and thoughtless people!

Take pictures to back up your complaint if you can catch them in the act.

Oh yes, in this day and age of electronics, a photo is absolutely necessary for evidence. Thanks for reminding us though of this idea.
