Wondering if it is worth getting pet insurance and if so what is the best bang for you pup? Many thanks

Is this a pet or your child? If it is your baby and cannot live without it looking online at Pet Secure low end is $35 middle is $50-$70, high end $120 per month. My views on pets is if treatment costs more than replacement I will go with replacement. If I have to start taking out financing, monthly payments, etc. for an animal my priorities are in a different place than should be. Some people don't have kids so spending $5 grand on a hospital bill is alright. To me that is 5-6 replacement pets.  
In the long run you will probably be better to take your $50 a month payment, put it into an account and bank it for pet emergencies. That is $600 a year saving. In 10 years nothing may happen and you will have 6 grand in the bank. Use that money for check ups, shots, teeth cleaning, etc.

My experience after 48 years as an adult having 1 or more cats/dogs at all times, I would say no. Other than basic exams, shots, medications, etc. I have only had one major expense. My current dog had to have both rear knees operated on when young at $2400/ knee. My pets have always been treated as family and as such would receive any medical/vet treatment as needed. Euthanizing would definitely be a last resort. Not replacement because cheaper than treatment!!  
I do agree with a previous post re putting $50/month into a savings account to use for pet use only as needed. For me that would be $28,800.00 over the last 48 years. I would have over $20,000.00 plus interest in there!!!! Wow !!  
In the end, your choice, but, I would say no.
