Canine Cough
8/27/2008 at 2:21 PM
Recently in the Brandon Sun , there was reference made to cases of Canine cough in Brandon. While I felt the article did a fair job of outlining the problem I feel that a bit of a unjustice was done. I do board at the kennel that was quoted in the paper. I recently called to book my dog in and asked the owner if they had any backlash from the article. I was told that a few people had cancelled and the reason was because they felt that this kennel was the only kennel in Brandon to have canine cough because it was the only one mentioned. From my information ALL the kennels had canine cough it was everywhere dogs meet and play. The other kennels did not comment. I think it takes alot of guts to come forward and comment on something that could impact your business as such and the two businesses mentioned in the article should be applauded for speaking out . This helps to educate the community and they appear to be good community citizens for talking about it. The kennel I use has taken precautions including using disinfectant that was recommeneded by the vet and isolating animals that were in the kennel who did present with symptoms at check in. When I asked when they last had canine cough they said not in a couple of weeks. Kudos to those two businesses and the vet clinic that spoke out and shame on those of you that unfairly judged the kennel.
